SYNOGEL
Prefilled Syringe for Intra-Articular Injection
Synogel® is derived from the combination of the words “Synovial” and “Gel”, collectively referring to an intra-articular gel. The product contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which contributes to the viscosity and viscoelastic properties of synovial fluid. Synovial fluid is a naturally occurring gel-like fluid within the joint cavity that lubricates the articular surfaces, facilitating smooth and pain-free joint movement. Hyaluronic acid is the principal constituent of synovial fluid. It is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan polymer widely distributed throughout human connective tissues and joints, where it plays a fundamental role in maintaining the lubricating and shock-absorbing properties of synovial fluid.
Synogel® is a sterile, non-pyrogenic, single-dose prefilled syringe containing a 1.6% sodium hyaluronate solution. Owing to its high molecular weight, the product demonstrates prolonged intra-articular residence time. Synogel® improves joint mobility and alleviates disorders associated with the degeneration of synovial fluid and articular cartilage.
Composition
Sodium Hyaluronate 32 mg / 2 mL
Indications
Synogel® is indicated for intra-articular injection to relieve pain and improve restricted joint mobility associated with cartilage degeneration and pathological changes in synovial fluid, particularly in large joints such as the knee and shoulder. By restoring the viscoelastic properties of synovial fluid, Synogel® improves joint function and provides symptomatic relief of pain associated with osteoarthritis.
Contraindications
Intravascular administration of Synogel® is strictly contraindicated, as it may result in undesirable systemic adverse effects.
Synogel® should not be administered in patients with any of the following conditions:
● Known hypersensitivity to sodium hyaluronate or any of its derivatives.
● Infection or dermatological disorders at the intended injection site.
● Severely inflamed or infected synovial fluid.
● Systemic bleeding disorders.
Dosage and Administration
Synogel® prefilled syringes are intended exclusively for administration by a qualified physician experienced in intra-articular injection techniques.
Depending on the patient’s clinical condition, two to three intra-articular injections are recommended. Multiple joints may be treated during the same treatment course when clinically indicated. Due to the high molecular weight of the hyaluronic acid contained in Synogel®, the beneficial therapeutic effects of a complete treatment course may persist for up to 36 weeks. Repeat treatment cycles may be administered at the discretion of the treating physician based on the patient’s clinical response.
